Heinrich Hoffmann (1885 – 1957) served as Adolf Hitler’s official photographer from when Hitler took control of the Nazi party in 1921 until his death in 1945. Hoffmann estimates he took over half a million photographs of Hitler over the course of his career. His portraits were the most significant source of Nazi propaganda materials published over the course of close to 25 years, everything from postcards, posters, magazines, postage stamps and picture books. Hitler On Board đŸš˘

Recently I came to realize that there has been a most glaring void here on my website. Having already thoroughly covered Adolf Hitler’s extensive journeys and exponential travels across Europe on Planes, Trains and Automobiles… somehow I totally skipped ships!!! So here it is! It’s certainly well past time we see Hitler at sea –… read more

  • Hitler & Mussolini

    Hitler & Mussolini

There have been many special friendships and (in)famous duos throughout the course of history, Lewis and Clark, Bonnie and Clyde, Lloyd and Harry, etc. So in honor of ‘National Best Friends Day’ let’s take a look at Hitler hanging out with his one and only migliore amico, Il Duce. Okay, so maybe this dubious dictator… read more

    Hitler’s Beer Hall Days

The cavernous and cramped beer halls of Bavaria were an integral part of Hitler’s life and early career. During the formative years of the Nazi Party the BĂźrgerbräukeller in Munich was one of the main gathering places of the NSDAP. It was there on 8 November 1923 that Adolf Hitler launched the Beer Hall Putsch and… read more

Arguably Adolf Hitler’s greatest passion and pastime outside of his quest for world domination was his obsession with architecture and urban design. These photographs are all from one photo session that took place in early 1925 inside Adolf Hitler’s apartment at Thierschstraße 41 in Munich. Hitler in Lederhosen Set #1

This group of photographs ranges from the years 1924 to 1929. I’ve discovered that the last few in this set are not Hoffmann photos, but I thought they went well with this particular portrait session that took place in Hoffmann’s Munich studio in July 1926. My other two posts in the “Hitler in Lederhosen” series,… read more
