Adolf Hitler’s birthday was one of the most important holidays celebrated in National Socialist Germany from 1933-1945. Each year Hitler was showered with gifts and well-wishes by the German people, and these annual events have already been thoroughly covered in two of my other albums: one specifically dedicated to Hitler’s 50th Birthday and the other to Hitler’s Birthday Celebrations occurring from the years 1923-1945. Yet while recently going through my photograph collection I realized that these public displays of affection certainly carried on throughout the entire year, and in fact was a regular feature of Hitler’s public appearances, especially during events like parades, rallies, or commemorative ceremonies. Gifts of flower bouquets were an especially common practice from children and members of youth organizations like the Hitler Youth or League of German Girls. So here I will present some of the most popular photographs and postcards showing people thanking the Führer with gifts and flowers.
